Two people who have made the decision to build their lives as one take solemn vows, and the most traditional should give them the expectation that they will remain to support each other in all circumstances. The other person is then responsible for shouldering much of the burden of everyday life and the health of their spouse.

It can be daunting to make important medical decisions as a couple, but it could be even worse if only one person has to make it alone to keep their spouse alive. They might have the restriction of non-resuscitation, or their spouse might require caretaking. Providing for them could become almost more than they can handle, and their dreams for lifetime happiness could be shattered. Those who are true to their vows will find a way to get through it, and their love for their spouse will shine through.
